Complete the Onboarding Process for Xylem System’s Native Accent


​The following steps help you to use Xylem System’s Native Accent efficiently. You can go through the video or alternatively follow the steps below

Instructions

Go to https://xylem.carnegiespeech.com/login/index.php. Bookmark this web address and then sign in using your registered username and password.

1. Complete Your Account Registration Form.


2. Click YES to agree to the site policy and privacy policy



3. After Your Successful Registration, You Will Be Placed Into The Initial Assessment To Test Your Skills.


4. Record each assessment item. It takes about 20 minutes to complete 89 recordings.


5.Continue recording the assessment items. 


6. View your skills report then click Go to Lesson Plan!


7. Select the first Intelligent Tutor lesson


8. Review the Lesson Overview



9. Each lesson is about 15 minutes long


A. The green implies that your pronunciation is good. It will then automatically take you to the next word.

B. The yellow indicates that

  • Your performance is close to the desired level with some improvement needed in pronunciation.
  • Listen to the model speaker and record yourself again.

C. Red “needs improvement”

  • Review the suggestions
  • Listen to the model speaker
  • Listen to your recording
  • Start another recording

Shortcuts


Keyboard commands in the student lessons


  • “Spacebar” or “r” starts the recording
  •  Any key stops the recording
  • “m” plays the model speech
  • “n” moves to the next exercise
  • “p” plays the student’s recording for the selected exercise

   

Best Practices


"Always use earbuds or a headset microphone! Using your device’s built-in microphone won’t give you good recordings and will be hard to record.

Keep your hands away from the microphone boom. Touching it will create noise and affect the speech recognition accuracy.

Press the record button to start, then read the item out loud."

Then click the yellow square to stop the recording.


Listen to your recording.  It should sound clean and clear.
